The last first round evening in Blackpool was a rather mixed experience. Two of the matches were rather one-sided and the so far weakest matches of the tournament, one was a really highclass match
and one started completely one-sided but developed in an entertaining match with the outstanding player of the night.
The evening started with the match between Chris Dobey and Ricardo Pietreczko, in which Dobey played just acceptable and won with 10:5 against
Pietreczko who showed the so far weakest performance of the tournament. After that followed a highclass match between Gerwyn Price and Daryl Gurney which the better playing Price won with 10:7. The all Dutch match between Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld
was another weak match in which van Gerwen prevailed with 10:6. In the last match we did see an outstanding Josh Rock with whom Ross Smith first couldn't keep up a all. But Smith
improved a lot throughout the match though he lost in the end deservedly with 5:10.

Steve Beaton
This is the last of several articles who were supposed to accompany the PDC World Championship 2024/25. As the other players portrayed Steve Beaton started his career in the BDO and later switched to the PDC. He as well
missed to qualify for the PDC World Championship 2024/25. But in contrast to the others he is the only BDO World champion among them and he returned his Tour Card by his own joice and didn't lose it.

Luke Littler wins World Championship
After he fell at the last hurdle in last year's final against Luke Humphries this year Luke Littler nailed down the title with a convincing 7:3 defeat of Michael van Gerwen.
Littler dominated the match from the start and stormed to a 4:0 lead before van Gerwen won his first set. Van Gerwen after that got better into the game and managed to win two more sets but all in all missed far to many doubles and was
consequentially punished by Littler. 18 days before his 18. birthday Littler crowned himself as youngest ever PDC World Champion in the history of the tournament.

In the first semi-final Michael van Gerwen had no problems to defeat Chris Dobey - who was not able to use his chances - with 6:1.
The second semi-final was even more highclass but as one-sided as Luke Littler
outclassed a good playing Stephen Bunting - Luke Littler as well won 6:1.

PDC World Championship - Day 14
In the Alexandra Palace in London today the quarterfinals took place. There were no real upsets. Though the results don't really show it at least the matches of the afternoon-session were highly competitive.
The most highclass and closest match was the quarterfinal between Michael van Gerwen and Callan Rydz which van Gerwen - with a little bit of luck and probably a lot of experience - won 5:3. Chris Dobey convinced
with a consistent performance at his win over Gerwyn Price who dominated the first two sets but later somehow weakend. Stephen Bunting had almost already won a to this point quite one sided match when Peter Wright
somehow managed to win two sets of his own. Nathan Aspinall only was in phases a dangerous opponent for the today very convincing Luke Littler.
