Garry Thompson plays since 2004 for the BDO and reached in his first year the quarterfinals of the British Open. His win of the Scottish Open in 2008 was a surprise for many. He through this qualified for the BDO World Championship 2009 but was eliminated first round.
2009 he had some good results again and again took part in the World Championship 2010.
This time he played himself into the quarterfinals. He reached the same round in 2011 and then lost to young Dutchman Jan Dekker.
Thompson is an engineer by profession and beside darts he's interested in soccer and horse races.
