Co Stompe had a successful career in the BDO from 1995 to 2008 and always was thought of as the second best Dutch player
behind Raymond van Barneveld. Till 2006 some younger Dutch players started to replace him.
In 2000 he played himself into the semifinals of the BDO World Championship. In the same year and in 2006 he stood in the
quarterfinals of the World Masters.
In June 2008 Stompe switched to the PDC and in autumn of the same year he managed to beat Phil Taylor in the finale of
the German Darts Championship. Till this success he reached several Pro Tour quarterfinals and managed to qualify
for most of the Major tournaments. So he now is ranked under the Top 32.
Out of personal reasons Stompe returned to the BDO at the beginning of 2014.
Before Stompe choose darts as his profession he worked as a tram driver.
