Dutchman Maik Kuivenhoven first appeared in BDO/WDF tournaments and in 2016 reached the quarterfinals of the Belgium Open. In 2017 he tried for the first time to get a Tour Card by taking part in the PDC Qualifying School but failed. In the same year again he stood in the quarterfinals of the Belgium Open. His second attempt to get a Tour card in Qualifying School failed in 2018. He played some European Tour qualifiers and qualified for the German Open where he reached the second round. In January 2019 he took part in Qualifying School for a third time and this time got his Tour Card. Now he plays on the Pro Tour - so far only with moderate success. He qualified for another European Tour event in 2019 but this time lost first round. 2020 started quite well for Kuivenhoven who twice reached the quarterfinals of a Players Championship and qualified for the European Tour events 3 and 4 in Leverkusen and Munic.
