Deta Hedman is one of the female legends in darts. 1973 she came with her family from Jamaica to England. As her brothers played darts she started as well and soon played Super League and County. She was a successful member of the national team.
In 1997 she withdrew from darts as her job was very demanding.
In 2002 she started a comeback in the PDC and played the Pro Tour circuit though never really showed of any achievements. 2002 and 2003 she won the ladies tournament of the Las Vegas Desert Classics. 2004 and 2005 she qualified for the UK Open and in 2005 she ended the tournament even as first ever women as 33rd.
From 2006 to 2008 she once again took a break because of her job but returned 2009 this time to play in the BDO. Hedman turned out to be still one of the Top female players, won aplenty of tournaments and qualified again and again for the BDO Women's World Championship but though she the reached the final in 2012, 2014 and 2016 she never managed to win it.
2019 and 2020 she took part in Qualifying School but couldn't win a Tour Card. Hedman played as well the PDC Women's Series 2020 and as runner-up qualified for the PDC World Championship 2021. She will play in the First Round against Andy Boulton.
