Littler defends title
In a slightly disappointing but unsurprising one-sided final of the PDC World Championship 2025/26 Luke Littler defeated Gian van Veen with 7:1 and defended his title.
Van Veen won the first set but after that the final was all about Littler though van Veen managed to win a few more legs but never in any way endangered Littler's title defence. Van Veen is now the new Dutch number 1 and the new World number 3 - might be a crumb of comfort for the disappointed runner-up.

PDC World Championship - Five Minutes Analysis Day 20
Tonight the Final of the PDC World Championship will be played.
Today's Day's Specials: Both for Luke Littler and for Gian van Veen it is the third World Championship. Both stood at the World Championship 2023/24 for the first time on the stage of the ALexandra Palace. Luke Littler qualified that year by the Development Tour Order of Merit, Gian van Veen by the Pro Tour Order of Merit. While van Veen lost at his first World Championship sensational in the first round to Man Lok Leung Littler only lost in the final to Luke Humphries. At his second World Championship van Veen - who had qualified as Littler as seeded player - again lost in round 1 - this time to Ricardo Pietreczko and Littler won the title. This year the'll meet in a repeat of the PDC World Youth Championship Final 2023 in the final - Littler won the youth final 2023 with 6:4.
What you should know as well: Tonight not only the final of the World Championship will be played tonight for the last time George Noble and John McDonald will stand as Referee/Caller and MC on the stage of the Alexandra Palace. Noble started his PDC career in 2007 - before he had been Referee/Caller in the BDO. McDonald worked since 2005 for the PDC and 2008 he was for the first time MC of the PDC World Championship. Both claim the main reason for their retirement is that they finally want to have time for their respective families and don't want to be so much on the road any longer which is readily understandable. Nevertheless we will miss them and wish them all the best!

Players from Africa at the PDC World Championship

PDC World Championship - Five Minutes Analysis Day 19
Today only an evening session will be played in which both semi-finals will take place.
Today's Day's Specials: Ryan Searle is the player in the semi-finals who is the lowest ranked in the PDC World Ranking - he sits in place 20. And he is the only one of the players in the semi-finals who so far didn't win a PDC TV Major.
What you should know as well: Neither Gian van Veen nor Ryan Searle stood so far in the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship. For van Veen it is the third World Championship and his best result so far was the second round. For Searle it is already the eighth World Championship and his best result so far were the Last 16 in 2019, 2021 and 2022.

PDC World Championship - Quarterfinals
All four quarterfinals were surprisingly one-sided matches with in most cases not really to be expected results. The biggests upset was probably the 1:5 defeat of Luke Humphries by Gian van Veen - Humphries scored quite well, but not as good as van Veen and made too many mistakes on his doubles. Beside he didn't manage to take the few chances which were offered to him. Jonny Clayton's clear 2:5 loss to Ryan Searle was unexpected as well - and here as well Clayton's double problems were a deciding factor. Gary Anderson on the other side was after four well balanced sets just too much for the in this match overcharged Justin Hood and Krzysztof Ratajski didn't find a way to put at least some pressure on Luke Littler.

PDC World Championship - Five Minutes Analysis Day 18
It is Quarterfinals Day at the Ally Pally. In each of the two sessions two matches will take place.
Match of the day: Personal Favourit: Gary Anderson v Justin Hood Impartial: Luke Humphries v Gian van Veen
Debutants of the day: Justin Hood
Seeded Player of the Day: Jonny Clayton (5), Gian van Veen (10), Luke Humphries (2), Luke Littler (1), Gary Anderson (14), Ryan Searle (20)
Today's Day's Specials: Justin Hood is the last debutant still in the tournament and beside the only player still in who qualified by the Pro Tour Order of Merit
What you should know as well: Krzysztof Ratajski qualified by the PDC World Ranking but not as a seeded player as he was outside the Top 32. Ratajskis very first World Championship was the BDO World Championship 2009. One year later followed his first appearence in a PDC TV Tournament - he was together with Krzysztof Kciuk the Team Poland in the PDC World Cup. But Ratajski stayed in the BDO till 2017. In that year he first won the World Masters, then qualified for a second BDO World Championship and after that changed to the PDC. This is his ninth PDC World Championship and he reached the quarterfinals after 2021 for the second time.
