In November 2021 he took part in his first PDC Development Tour weekend. In the first event he reached the final and won on the follwing two days two of the events. By this he ended on the second place of the PDC European Development Tour at the end of the season. As the first of the ranking (Rusty-Jake Rodriguez ) already had qualified for the PDC World Championship by the Pro Tour Order of Merit Fabian Schmutzler moved up on the World Championship place for the winner of the European Development Tour and caused a sensation. Schmutzler will give his debut as the second youngest player ever in the PDC World Championship 2022.
