Scotsman Ryan Murray for the first time took part in an UK Open Qualifier in 2010 and qualified for his first UK Open. He returned to the tournament in 2011 and 2012. 2013 Murray played a few Challenge Tour events. 2014 he reached the quarterfinals of the Scottish Nation Championship. In 2016 he tried his luck in the qualifier for the BDO World Championship and took part in the World Masters. He decided to joined the PDC 2017 and took part in Qualifying School but couldn't get a Tour Card.
After Qualifying School he played the UK Open Qualifiers, qualified for the event but lost second round. Murray played on the Challenge Tour and reached his first quarterfinal. 2018 and 2019 followed more attempts in Qualifying School and two more years on the Challenge Tour before 2020 he finally got his Tour Card in Qualifying School. Murray qualified for two events of the European Tour and reached during the Winter Series his first Pro Tour quarterfinal. By the Pro Tour Order of Merit he qualified for the PDC World Championship 2021 where he lost against Lourance Ilagan First Round.
