Paul Hogan plays since 1995 on the BDO Circuit after he had managed to qualify for the BDO World Championship and reached there the quarterfinals. He qualified again in 1996 but lost first round. 1999 he again played the tournament but again lost first round. It took five years before he returned to lakeside where he again reached the quarterfinals and lost to Jelle Klaasen. 2007 he was a first round loser. For some years he played with no success at all.
In 2013 he finally managed to win a tournament and to come through the qualifiers for the BDO World Championship 2014. But again he didn't survive the first Round. In the same year he qualified for the UK Open and reached the last 32 and stood in the last 32 of the Winmau World Masters as well. 2015 he again qualified for the UK Open and again reached the last 32 - this time losing to Michael van Gerwen. In 2016 Hogan's best result was the final of the BDO Gold Cup.
By the Lakeside Play-Offs during the Winmau World Masters he qualified for the Preliminary Round of the BDO World Championship 2017. 2019 and 2020 Hogan again took part in the BDO World Championship and in 2020 - as in 1995 and 2006 - reached the quarterfinals. 2017 and 2018 Hogan again qualified again for the UK Open and both times reached the fifth round.
During the British Internationals 2017 Hogan hit a nine-darter against Alan Soutar.
