Premier League 13 - Eleventh League Day, Dublin

Dublin is the venue for week 11 of the Premier League!
Mighty Mike demonstrated how to handle two games in a night, pocketing four points and seeing off Taylor and Wade in the process. His "shock and awe" tactics worked a treat, ten 140's and six 180's against The Power and this was way too much even for the greatest player ever!

We wondered last week about the effect of playing two games in a night would have on the players and both Wade and Van G were 13 or so points down on their average from the first games they played. This is an area to keep track of as the last few weeks of the Premier League play out.

This week MVG, Barney, Hamilton and Taylor both have to play twice. Van Gerwen is on last again against Lewis. Barney's second match is against The Power and this is also Taylor's second game. Andy Hamilton plays Taylor in the opening bout and then The Hammer plays a resurgent Wizard in the third game of the night.

We were ranting a few weeks back about how to pick a winner from this high calibre field. This week maybe there are some exceptions. Admittedly Mighty Mike is on last and it is his second game and he is odds on but surely he will have too much for a beleaguered Jackpot? Lewis did enough to save himself from relegation to his favourite armchair for the balance of the Premier League season but his form is such the O2 looks beyond him!

If odds on favourites aren't your thing then what about MVG is the handicap? Paddy Power will give you 10/11 that Mighty Mike can overcome a -2.5 handicap. In other words if he can get to 7 with Jackpot on 4 or fewer legs the bet is a winner!

Whitlock at 11/10 is also worth considering. He won a Pro Tour event at the weekend, beat The Thorn last week and reading his interviews he has a points targets set and appears absolutely determined to get to the O2. This is not to say The Hammer feels the same way of course. However, Whitlock is on a roll and will take some stopping on Thursday!

Last week James Wade repaid our faith in his finishing and hit the highest outshot as predicted, albeit closer than anticipated! On Thursday he is up against The Thorn, who is not only a prolific 180 hitter but also, usually, has a high checkout or two in his repertoire. Although he did, along with The Wizard fail to hit the 120 or more we needed for our bet to come in last week.
Everyone deserves a second chance and 888 go out on a limb offering 5/6 on a 118.5 or higher outshot from either one of them. That is worth a small investment!
