World Championship Blog 17

Our final blog (that is a promise) from the PDC and BDO 2011 World Championships.
It`s A Marathon Not A Sprint

"It has been a struggle on occasions, fighting against the odds to keep battling and to find some inspiration to keep going". But we have managed to keep the blog going since the preview way back on 13 December 2010. It`s been great fun! Thanks for all your emails and feedback.

Thanks to Anthony for his tips, he started off brilliantly, hitting six out of six and four out of four on some days: he was spot on again yesterday, two out of two. Here is his blog in case you missed it:

Hello once again.

First of all, unlucky Stephen, you played very well all week. You will be a world champion at some point.

Semi Final day today and there are two captains playing and I can guarantee that Martin will win! They are both playing very well, the way Martin Philips came back was exceptional and a great advert for never giving up. Martin Adams seems to be getting better still; good finishing and scoring, when you watch him, you just expect 100+ and when he doesn't it's a shock.

I've not been picking winners all that well recently, this will be a barn burner. Martin Adams gets the nod 6-4

The second game is perhaps unexpected, neither player is what I would class as world champion material. Again both players have been great at times, but too many sloppy darts and miscounting have spoiled them. Dean gets the nod 6-5, may go to sudden death.

Form is out the window here today. You are only as good as your last game. The key ingredient today is bottle and plenty of it. Anthony Urmston-Toft

Q School
I am off to Wigan to support Andy Relf at the qualifying school on Thursday. It should be a fascinating experience and I will report back later in the week.
